Wow… it’s already June!  Are you enjoying the beautiful weather?  As importantly… is your house?  The beginning of June is the perfect time to make some final preparations for the hot weather…

1. Change the filters at all air returns of your air-conditioning system. While you’re at it, vacuum out the cavity behind the filters.  Create some type of reminder system so that you will change the filters at least once a month. Dirty and clogged filters are the number one cause of air conditioners being overworked.

2. If you have an attic fan, make sure it is in good working order.  And, while you’re in the attic, look around for signs of moisture that might indicate a leak.

3.  Hire a chimney sweep. If you use your fireplace regularly, you should have the chimney cleaned at least every other year. The best time to schedule an appointment is early summer, when business is slow for chimney sweeps.
